Ubisoft Sydney is looking for a talented Animator who can bring life to characters for our new game development, XDefiant. The Animator will create best in class character performances and other game-play animations. The project requires realistic physics of character movements and performances for both body and facial.

The ideal candidate should have experience crafting hand-keyed animations, as well as being able to edit motion-capture data with facial performance work too. You are technical enough to work in Animation graphs yet are committed to your artistry and craft!

What you will do

  • Work with the Animation Seniors and Leads to develop game centric animations.
  • Create animations for game and more cinematic experiences, victories etc.
  • Animate assets for use in game and other areas.
  • Work with artists and engineers to assure you can create your best work!
  • Create work from scratch through polish and take on other work in various states of progress.
  • Interact with Technical Artists and Technical Animators to define Character Animation Pipeline needs and improvements.
  • Develop and adhere to quality review processes, receive and express feedback.
  • Play the game


What you will bring

  • Mid-level experience in Animation for game development or similar pipeline
  • Understanding of implementing animations in game
  • Experience or ability to work with motion capture a plus.
  • Experience with Maya, Motion Builder and standard DCC tools and workflows
  • Knowledge and experience working with Game editors and engines.
  • Deep understanding of anatomy and motion
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with motion capture

  • Ability to prioritize and manage tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Clear communication skills
