Position Summary

Crystal Dynamics is on the hunt for an amazing Storyboard Artist for our studio! The Storyboard Artist will work with Art, Cinematic and Game Leads to translate creative briefs and scripts into compelling sequences, capturing and enhancing the intent of the narrative. This is an opportunity to produce clear, high-quality sketch art and well-paced animatics, utilizing a range of 2D and 3D elements.


  • Translate written and verbal direction into energetic, informative storyboard sequences and animatics
  • Pitch your own and teammate-created sequences to leads and directors in daily reviews and formal presentations
  • Revise storyboards, animatics, and shooting materials as needed
  • Describe character blocking within scene locations via detailed, descriptive set diagrams and camera plans
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to see 2D sequences properly translated into 3D previs
  • Edit video footage to resolve scene length and timing issues


  • Portfolio of storyboards or sequential art (Live Action Realism preferred) as well as examples of illustration or photography. Ideal portfolios will showcase the following:
  • Excellent draftsmanship skills, with a mastering of anatomy and perspective
  • Understanding of the principles and practices of cinematography and has a strong sense for cinematic timing
  • A keen eye for composition, mood, and lighting
  • Proficient with Adobe Photoshop, After Effects and/or Premiere
  • Proficient with Adobe Photoshop, After Effects and/or Premiere
  • Ability to explain ideas verbally and visually (as effectively as they can draw them)
  • Understands the importance of feedback in revising oneโ€™s work to benefit the final product
  • Has a desire to elevate the standard of cinematic storytelling in AAA games
  • Must be authorized to work in the US


  • Understanding of AAA game cinematic pipelines
  • 1+ years studio experience
  • Understanding of basic animation principles
  • 3D software knowledge
