Animator

Robot Entertainment is an independent game studio founded in 2009, best known for creating the Orcs Must Die! franchise. We’re looking for an experienced Animator to work on an unannounced project set in a vibrant, stylized world and inspired by classic action JRPGs. Your reel should showcase a diverse selection of gameplay animation and a strong foundation in the principles of animation. 

As an animator you’ll work collaboratively with designers, programmers, and artists to create and implement a variety of in-game animations. We strive to create a supportive environment where everyone can make an impact on our projects.

Responsibilities

• Create hand keyed animations for a variety of creatures and characters that set the quality bar for both visual style and gameplay feel.
• Collaborate closely with designers and programmers to iterate on and implement animations.
• Review animations with the team, provide artistic and technical feedback to fellow team members.

Our Ideal Candidate…

• Has 2+ years of experience creating game animations (combat and locomotion.)
• Has professional experience working in Maya, and Unreal (or other modern game engines.)
• Takes a proactive approach to their work and has strong communication skills.
• Plays and enjoys a variety of games.

Bonus Points For…

• An understanding of animation state machines.
• Contributing to shipping multiple game titles.
• Some experience with outsourcing.

We’re headquartered in Plano, TX just north of Dallas. The team transitioned to working from home in 2020 and this role is open to anyone interested in working remotely in the continental United States or those interested in relocating to the DFW area.
