House of How is a studio based in Bothell WA USA, with a satellite office in Boden, Sweden. Our leads team is made up of all 15+ year vets from senior and director positions at Microsoft Games and other AA and AAA studios. Though our team is still new, we worked with each other for years before leaving to set out on a new adventure together. Our revenue more than doubled every year the last 3 years running, and with recently signing a deal with Interactive Studio Management (ISM) for business representation, we’re about to really hit the gas on our growth and project scope.

We have some very interesting projects going on that we can’t quite talk about yet. Some in AAA, some in contract work, some in original IP and prototypes. We can talk about more details if it looks like it might be a good fit.

Responsibilities

  • Work together with the art team to create beautiful spaces, with a focus on aesthetics and performance.
  • Work with design and engineering to help craft experiences toward a unified vision.
  • Help improve processes and pipelines, identifying bottlenecks and repetitive tasks that could utilize automation.
  • Efficiently create assets using up to date techniques and tools
  • Work with the Art Lead to standardize workflows for the art team.

Requirements

  • 3+ years in an art role in video games, or a 4+ year degree in a related field.
  • Proficiency in Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter and Designer, Photoshop, and other tools.
  • Experience in Unreal, Unity, or other engines.
  • A portfolio showcasing both 2d and 3d work in a variety of styles.
  • Examples demonstrating an understanding of PBR.
  • Experience in source control systems such as git or svn.
  • Experience in ADO, Trello, Jira, or other task tracking systems.
  • Written and Spoken English Fluency.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience in mobile game development.
  • Experience with particle systems and other fx techniques.
  • Experience with either animation or technical animation (rigging).
  • A passionate interest in games to drive our products to the next level.
